Getting Started
Set up 1Retro on your devices in just a few minutes.
Create an account
Sign up at 1retro.com. You get 20 MB of free cloud storage, enough for thousands of saves.
Download the desktop app
Head to the Download page and grab the app for your OS. It installs like any other app and runs quietly in your menu bar (or system tray), starting automatically when you log in.
Sign in and choose your emulator folder
Click the 1Retro icon in your menu bar and choose “Open 1Retro”. That opens a local page in your browser that talks only to the app on your computer, so 1Retro’s servers never touch your files. Sign in, then point it at your emulator’s save directory. It detects common emulators like RetroArch, Snes9x, mGBA, and others automatically.
Play your games
That’s it. The app watches your save folder in the background and syncs changes to the cloud. When you sit down at a different computer, your saves are already there.
Good to know
- The desktop app uses minimal resources and runs quietly in the system tray.
- Supports any emulator that writes standard save files (.sav, .srm, .state, etc.).
