Getting Started
Set up 1Retro on your devices in just a few minutes.
Create an account
Sign up at 1retro.com. You get 20 MB of free cloud storage, enough for thousands of saves.
Install the APK
Download the Android APK from the Download page on your device. Open it and approve the prompt to install from an unknown source — Android will walk you through the per-app permission.
Sign in and grant storage access
Open the app and sign in with your account. Grant storage permission when prompted so the app can read and write your emulator’s save files.
Point it at your RetroArch saves folder
Use the in-app file browser to select your RetroArch saves directory (typically under Android/data/com.retroarch/files/saves or wherever you’ve configured it). The app hashes your ROMs to identify games, so saves follow the game across devices.
Play your games
That’s it. The background service watches the folder and syncs changes to the cloud. Saves from your desktop, MiSTer, or other devices show up here automatically.
Good to know
- Distributed as a signed APK — sideload it from the Download page (the Play Store build will come later).
- Built for RetroArch first. ROMs are matched by hash, so saves stay attached to a game even if you rename or move it.
- A foreground service keeps sync running when the app isn't in front. Allow notifications so Android doesn't kill it.
